MaMacAulay-Mixed Media

This piece was to commemorate a memory I have of a story one of my favorite teachers told me about the creation of the Earth. In the story, a woman of the Sky fell through a hole in the clouds and down into the Sea. There in the Sea all she needed something to hold onto because she couldn't swim. Eventually we come to the tortoise, the only thing big enough to support her weight, with her wide body covered in grass and dirt and stone.
This piece was made mostly of wire and paper, but it was also painted with brown paint and covered in moss and broken pieces of cheep ore.
If I had the chance to do this again, I would leave it as the shell instead of trying to add a head and legs onto it.
